Q: Do I have to own a piano
to begin piano lessons?
A: No. Although having
access to a piano at the beginning
stages of lessons
is an advantage, it is not a requirement.
You must have access to a keyboard
in order
to review your lessons each week.
Q: How much should I practice
each week?
A: At the beginning stages,
students will be introducing new ways
to move their muscles.
It is better to practice in short
intervals often rather than sitting
at the instruments for a long time.
Students should develop practicing
methods taught by their teachers to
meet their needs.
15 min 30min per day would
be good for beginners. You should
always listen to your body.
If you feel any discomfort while practicing,
please discuss with the teacher immediately.
Q: Do I have to perform at
the recital?
A: Most of our students
recitals twice a year in May / June
and December. Recitals
are important part of our program.
It is a great opportunity to present
what you have been
working on to your friends and family.
Although you are not required to perform
at the recitals, you are encouraged.
Q: What should I do if I need
to cancel the lesson?
A: If you need to reschedule
your lesson, we require at least a
24-hour notice.
Same day cancellations are not eligible
for a make-up lesson. If you need
to change
the standing time for the remaining
semester we will change your time
if another time
is available.
Q: Can I make up if I miss
a class?
A: There is no make-up
class if a student misses the class.
Make-up will be given
if class was cancelled by the teacher
or due to bad weather.
Q: When do we make up lessons
and classes cancelled by TK Music?
A: Occasionally, TK Music
will cancel lessons or classes due
to bad weather or teacher's
sickness. These lessons/classes will
be made up at the end of semesters.
You can
also make up private lessons at a
earlier convenient time.
Q: Do you close during bad
weather?
A: Our staff WILL call
you if we are definitely closed. Call
us if you are not sure
if we are open. You can call us to
reschedule lessons if you feel unsafe
under some conditions.
Q: Do I need to bring an amplifier
to my guitar lesson?
A: No. You only need to
bring your guitar, pick, and books.
